Zero-waste Pattern Making

Digital exploration using CLO3D and Blender

This project explores zero-waste pattern making by digitally reconstructing traditional sarees into contemporary womenswear. Using CLO3D, garments were developed without textile waste, testing pattern efficiency and silhouette outcomes. Blender was used to visualise garment movement and structure.

Design Focus

  • Zero-waste pattern logic

  • Reuse of existing sarees

  • Garment development within material constraints

Tools & Process

  • CLO3D for zero-waste pattern development

  • Blender for garment animation and movement study

  • Entire saree utilised with no textile off-cuts

  • Pattern layouts derived directly from fabric dimensions

  • Garment shapes developed through efficiency-led construction

This project allowed me to test zero-waste methodologies within a digital workflow, balancing sustainability constraints with wearable outcomes. It reinforced the value of pattern-led design decisions in reducing textile waste.
